Responsibilities:Interpret blueprints, drawings, and measurements to plan layoutsDetermine the appropriate welding equipment or machinery to be usedSet up components for weldingCommunicate with other production departments to organise componentsSelecting, cleaning and preparing work in advanceCutting marked-out metal sections and shapes using hand tools, flame cutting torches and metal cutting machinesAlign components using calipers, rulers etc. and clamp piecesShaping and bending metal sections and pipes using hand and machine tools, and by heating and hammeringJoin and Weld small and large components using various welding techniques. Have ability to weld components in flat, vertical, and overhead positions.Assembles, welds and repairs products and components to relevant standards.Assess welded surfaces, structures and components to identify errors. Rework as required.Follow and enforce strict safety regulations such as wearing heat-resistant gloves, protective masks, and safety shoes.Finishing products by cleaning, grinding, polishing, filing.Maintain and organise repair of tools and equipment for role and team.
Covering medium to heavy fabrication, to be successful you need to have the following;Certificate I, II or III in Engineering and Fabrication and or relevant experience as a welder.2nd class welding abilityAbility to work in a fast-paced environmentAbility to read drawings, work to a time frame and complete tasks with a high-end finishEye for detail and qualityPhysically fit for manual workBe able to read and produce from computer generated drawingsHappy to ask questions if something is not clear, to give and take on feedback.Hold safety in high regardBe an autonomous employeeAttendance, punctuality and reliability is a mustWork to a time frame and complete tasks with a high-end finishAbility to follow instructions and follow through on all tasksCommunicate effectively with supervisors, management and teamAvailable for long term work commencing immediately (or after notice period)A strong work ethic and a high attention to detail
