About Our Role The Prince of Wales Hospital Prevocational Education and Training Program (Network 9) offers education and training experiences across a broad range of settings. Our Network consists of:
- Prince of Wales Hospital
- Lismore Base Hospital
- Royal Hospital for Women
- Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick
Our Resident Medical Officers are prevocational trainees that are encouraged to be proactive and engage in various hospital programs beyond the standard education curriculum. This includes the opportunity to participate in quality change/innovation improvement, doctor advocacy and wellbeing programs. With Prince of Wales Hospital as your base hospital, you will rotate to various departments and provide medical care and support, as part of a multi-disciplinary team, consistent with your level of clinical competency and experience. This includes the assessment and management of patients across several clinical departments under the supervision of senior practitioners whilst developing broad skills in clinical decision making and practice.
Your Primary Location Prince of Wales Hospital and Community Health Services is a major teaching hospital and tertiary referral centre based on the Randwick Hospitals Campus. We provide excellent healthcare to SESLHD and specialist health and medical services to NSW. We connect with various universities including the University of New South Wales. Our premier medical facilities enable leading learning opportunities for our staff, with the Randwick Campus Redevelopment providing a world-class integrated environment for clinical care, research and education.

- A minimum of 12 months satisfactory full-time post-graduate experience, including recent demonstrated clinical practice as a registered medical practitioner in an Australian Health System or within the approved competent authority pathway.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently in a supervised environment and work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team with an understanding of the roles of the doctor and other members of the healthcare team.
- Demonstrated evidence of continuing professional development and commitment to self-education and commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills and ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with patients, family members and others members of the health care team.
- Demonstrated good organisational and time management skills and ability to manage competing priorities in a complex environment.
