Job OverviewWe are seeking a skilled and passionate Hot Chef / Baker to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in culinary arts, with a focus on cooking & baking techniques and food safety practices. As a Hot Chef, you will be responsible for cooking of a variety of goods food while maintaining the highest standards of quality and presentation. This role requires excellent team management skills and the ability to supervise kitchen staff effectively.
Responsibilities- Baked and hot food preparation and display
- Food Safety and Health & Safety standards
- Ensure all baked and hot food is of great quality and same great standards
- Ensure hot food is cooked and held at correct temperatures and recorded in an accurate and timely fashion according to company standards.
- Follow the hot food production setting standards
- Ensure all our hot food production is completed as per production principles using the shop plan
- Maintain the hot food equipment and Personal Protective Equipment to company standards
- Keep the hot food preparation area clean and organised
- Role model all aspects of Food Safety and Health & Safety by the law and Pret standards
- Ensure all hot food equipment is prepared and set up at the start of each day
- Test, clean and maintain all hot food equipment according to company standards and report any maintenance issues to the Manager
- Train all Team Members to use hot food equipment effectively and efficiently
- Complete all training requirements
- Manage the waste levels of baked and hot food ingredients, Action any issues relating to stock variances and waste for hot food as required by the Manager
- You must also be responsible for ordering required food items for the kitchen, Monitoring food production and waste.
- Ensure baked products and hot food availability as required for the time of day
- Have a good knowledge of hot food contribution to shop sales
- Follow merchandising and displays guidelines
- Ensure that all new hot food product launches are managed in a timely and effective way in the shop.
- Ensure all products are made with high-quality ingredients and presented attractively for customers.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation in the kitchen area, adhering to food safety regulations at all times.
- Supervise and train junior kitchen staff, providing guidance on baking techniques and best practices.
- Collaborate with the culinary team to develop new recipes and seasonal offerings that enhance our menu.
- Assist in managing kitchen operations during peak hours, ensuring efficient workflow
Skills- Strong culinary skills with a focus on company set cooking techniques and food safety practices.
- Proven experience in as hot chef or similar kitchen environment is preferred.
- Excellent leadership abilities with experience in supervising and managing a team.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also taking initiative when required.
- Knowledge of hospitality standards and customer service excellence.
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in both preparation and presentation of cooked / Baked food.
