Job Description:
Ready to take your career off-road and onto the rails? Treescape is seeking a skilled and safety-focused Hi-Rail Operator to join our Wellington team, working on high-impact Metro projects in partnership with KiwiRail. This is your chance to be part of a crew that keeps New Zealand's rail network moving, combining hands-on machinery work with real-world problem solving in a fast-paced, outdoor environment. What you’ll be doing: • Providing rail protection for work crews • Operating vehicles and equipment safely and efficiently • Reporting safety and operational issues • Communicating clearly with your team to ensure smooth operations • Working night shifts and travelling for away work when required What we’re looking for: • 2-3 years' experience in a similar field • Strong communication skills and team-first attitude • Willingness to travel and stay away when required • Physically fit and safety-conscious • Class 2/RTW license and First Aid Certificate (bonus but not essential) • Growsafe Certificate and Agrichemical Level 4 qualification are a strong advantage What we offer: • Competitive pay and full-time hours (Mon–Fri, 7am–5pm) • Full uniform, boots, and PPE provided • Ongoing training and support from experienced colleagues • Access to modern equipment and vehicles • Opportunities to grow within a supportive team Ready to apply? The fine print: • To be eligible for this position you must currently be living in NZ and have a legal right to work in this country (i.e. NZ Citizenship, be a permanent resident, or hold full working rights). Treescape is also an NZ Immigration Accredited employer, which means that we can support visa applications under the AEWV. • Candidates will be required to undergo drug and alcohol testing, a medical exam, and Ministry of Justice checks as part of the recruitment process (at Treescape’s cost). • This is a permanent and full-time position working Monday to Friday 47.5 hours per week.
