Job Description – Project Management Manager (Electrical Works) 1. Company Overview Our company is a Singapore-registered engineering and electrical works services provider , specializing in the installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of electrical systems for commercial, industrial, and residential developments.   • High-rise commercial buildings

With Singapore’s construction and engineering industry facing tight schedules, safety regulations, and demand for 24/7 project delivery , the role of Project Management Manager (Electrical Works) has become critical to ensure project execution meets both client expectations and regulatory requirements. This role is designed for an experienced professional who can oversee complex electrical projects, handle night shift operations, and manage multiple teams across various locations. 2. Purpose of the Role The Project Management Manager is responsible for providing leadership, coordination, and oversight for all electrical works projects. The role ensures that projects are executed safely, on time, within budget, and in compliance with Singapore’s stringent regulations (BCA, EMA, MOM, SCDF). The position is essential for:
  • Managing large-scale and technically complex projects.
  • Supervising diverse teams of engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors.
  • Ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintaining operational efficiency in night shifts and extended 12+ hour shifts .
  • Supporting the company’s strategy to expand operations across Singapore.

3. Key Roles & Responsibilities A. Project Planning & Execution
  • Develop comprehensive project execution plans covering timelines, resources, and budgets.
  • Define detailed work breakdown structures (WBS) for all electrical installation activities.
  • Identify potential risks and prepare mitigation strategies.
  • Coordinate permits, approvals, and inspections required from BCA, EMA, and SCDF.

B. Technical & Site Management
  • Supervise the installation of switchgear, distribution boards, cabling, and control systems.
  • Oversee testing and commissioning of electrical systems, ensuring quality and compliance with SS 638.
  • Review technical drawings, shop drawings, and schematics for accuracy.
  • Monitor subcontractor works to ensure compliance with design and safety standards.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues on-site and implement corrective actions promptly.

C. Financial & Commercial Management
  • Track project budgets, cost variations, and ensure profitability.
  • Prepare claims, variation orders, and negotiate additional works with clients.
  • Work closely with procurement teams to secure competitive pricing for materials and equipment.
  • Monitor cash flow projections and ensure financial discipline.

D. Stakeholder Communication
  • Lead weekly coordination meetings with clients, consultants, and subcontractors.
  • Provide detailed progress updates and project reports to management.
  • Act as the single point of accountability for client queries and concerns.
  • Build strong client relationships to ensure repeat business opportunities.

E. Workplace Safety & Compliance
  • Enforce Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) practices across all project sites.
  • Conduct regular site audits, toolbox talks, and risk assessments.
  • Ensure compliance with SCDF requirements for fire protection and electrical safety.
  • Monitor compliance with MOM regulations regarding manpower deployment and shift work.

F. Leadership & People Development
  • Supervise and mentor engineers, supervisors, and technicians.
  • Assign tasks, evaluate performance, and ensure accountability.
  • Provide on-the-job training and support career development pathways.
  • Foster teamwork, discipline, and safety culture among staff.

4. Job Requirements A. Educational Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Project Management.
  • Postgraduate qualifications (MBA, PMP certification, or equivalent) will be an advantage.
  • Diploma holders with over 10 years of project management experience will also be considered.

B. Professional Experience
  • Minimum 5–8 years of project management experience in electrical works.
  • Proven record of managing large-scale commercial or industrial projects in Singapore.
  • Experience in handling night shift projects, urgent rectification works, and 24/7 operations .
  • Familiarity with Singapore regulatory agencies (BCA, EMA, SCDF, MOM).

C. Technical Skills
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems:
    LV & HV installations
    Power distribution networks
    Switchboards and MCC panels
    Cable routing and earthing systems
    Control and automation systems
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Project, and Primavera (preferred).
  • Knowledge of electrical safety codes and standards (SS 638, CP5, etc.).

D. Leadership & Soft Skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to lead multicultural teams across multiple projects.
  • High adaptability for night shifts and long working hours (12+ hours) .

E. Other Requirements
  • Must be flexible to work across multiple project sites in Singapore .
  • Physically fit and able to handle site supervision in demanding conditions.

5. Working Conditions
  • Work Hours : Shift-based, including night shifts and extended 12+ hour shifts when required.

  • Environment :
    Site-based role with exposure to construction noise, dust, and electrical equipment.
    Requires coordination between office-based planning and site supervision.
  • Travel : Frequent travel across project sites within Singapore.
