Role Overview
The Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE), Data Quality Office, is looking to establish a Power BI competency within our office to act as the primary resource for the development of data visualizations. PDE requires a senior-level Power BI developer to help establish this function within the Data Quality Office.
Primary Responsibilities
- Document, design, develop, test, implement and support Microsoft Power BI solutions.
- Deliver high quality Power BI solutions, lead validations for testing and all activities related to implementation.
- Advise Data Quality leadership on Power BI projects and critical project tasks, review milestone project results and resolve any technical problems that may occur.
- Work closely with program offices to thoroughly understand business processes.
- Consult and collaborate with program offices to translate needs into analytics/reporting requirements.
- Coach and educate DQ staff on best practices, standards,and proper use of Power BI.
- Identify opportunities for improving Power BI development methods and procedures.
Required Technical Skills
- Development experience in Power BI
- Strong proficiency in DAX, Power Query and data modeling
- Solid understanding of SQL and relational databases
- Ability to lead, plan, develop, and implement Power BI projects
- Ability to provide technical user support
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing
- Able to interact with individuals at all levels of PDE in a professional/personable manner
