The Opportunity
This is an opportunity to play a key role in designing and sustaining the telecommunications backbone that enables safe, reliable operation of South Australia’s power system. You’ll work closely with project teams, asset owners and contractors, acting as a technical authority across network design, standards and commissioning.
With energy system growth and technology advancement accelerating, this role offers long term stability, flexibility, and the chance to influence how critical infrastructure is designed and delivered.
Based in Adelaide, this full-time role will also cover the following key responsibilities:
- Design, review and validate telecommunications solutions (microwave, fibre, IP/MPLS)
- Develop and maintain telecom design, commissioning and maintenance standards
- Provide technical scopes and specifications to support capital projects
- Review tender submissions and contractor designs against standards
- Support commissioning, integration and handover of telecom assets
- Investigate and resolve complex network and commissioning issues
- Maintain accurate network records across the asset lifecycle
- Collaborate with multi disciplinary engineering, operations and project teams
About You
You are a technically confident telecommunications engineer who thrives in complex, regulated environments and enjoys taking ownership of engineering outcomes. You’re comfortable working independently, challenging designs where needed, and partnering across teams to deliver reliable solutions.
To Be Successful, You Will Bring
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in Electrical/Electronic Engineering related role
- Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Electrical or Electronic Engineering (or relevant field).
- Eligibility for Engineers Australia membership
- Strong experience using Nokia IP/MPLS & WDM, Ceragon and Aviat microwave radios, and telecom monitoring and analysis platforms
- Demonstrated capability in telecom design, review and commissioning
- Experience working in critical infrastructure, utilities, rail, mining or similar environments with exposure to similar systems and technology used in role
- Sound understanding of technical standards, compliance and safety requirements
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders
- Willingness to travel to sites across South Australia (~25%)
- A current driver’s licence and flexible approach to working hours
