Job Description Position: General Labourer Department: Production Reports To: Plant Supervisor & Manager Location: Calgary, AB Job Summary Screenco is seeking hardworking and reliable individuals interested in building a career in the manufacturing industry. As a General Labourer, you will play a key role in the production of window and patio door screens, working collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This hands-on position involves operating machinery, assembling components, maintaining quality standards, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. Your contributions will directly support Screenco’s reputation as a leading supplier to window and door manufacturers across North America. Key Responsibilities Responsibilities may include some or all of the following:
  • Cut, punch, and prepare metal rails to specified lengths for window and patio door screen assembly.
  • Operate various machinery and tools including miter saws, hydraulic punches, roller bending machines, CNC screening machines, pallet jacks, and hand tools (training provided).
  • Measure and assemble screen components using both metric and imperial units.
  • Install and secure screen mesh into frames using hand tools or automated equipment.
  • Label, package, and prepare finished products for shipment.
  • Perform quality checks to ensure products meet specifications and standards.
  • Maintain accurate daily production logs, paperwork, and reports.
  • Assist in equipment lubrication, maintenance, and troubleshooting as required.
  • Clean and organize work areas to maintain a safe and efficient production environment.
  • Support lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Work with the production team to meet daily targets and assist colleagues with assigned tasks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or manager.

Qualifications & Skills
  • Previous experience in production, assembly, or manufacturing preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to operate machinery and hand tools (training provided).
  • Good manual dexterity, attention to detail, and ability to follow instructions.
  • Strong communication skills and willingness to ask for clarification when needed.
  • Ability to stand for long periods and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Physical ability to bend, crouch, and lift items up to 80 lbs.
  • Forklift experience or license is an asset.
  • Experience with ERP systems or basic computer skills is an asset.
  • Prior experience in the fenestration (window & door) industry is an asset.
  • Availability for overtime (early, late, or weekends) when required.
