We are pleased to offer an excellent opportunity for a motivated and reliable Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) to join the Pathology Department at Royal Glamorgan Hospital.
As part of our Microbiology Laboratory team, you will play a vital role in ensuring high standards of patient care through the accurate and timely processing of clinical specimens.

A good standard of general education
Strong written and verbal communication skills
High attention to detail and a willingness to learn new tasks
Previous laboratory or healthcare experience (desirable)
Confidence using IT systems (desirable)
You’ll be joining a UKAS-accredited department (ISO 15189) and an IBMS-accredited training laboratory. The department is committed to continuous development and quality improvement.
Within the microbiology team there is a focus on abiding by and working to the health board values of listening and improving, teamwork and respect. There is an emphasis on compassionate leadership, and we continually strive to improve the daily working experience for our team.
Your main responsibilities will include preparation, labelling, data entry of confidential information, processing of clinical specimens, maintaining and operating instrumentation all of which require a careful and methodical approach.
You will be required to handle clinical specimens including urine, faeces, sputum, blood, tissue samples, CSF in accordance with directorate Health and Safety protocols and Standard Operating Procedures.
You will be required to complete required documentation to a good standard with attention to detail.
