About the role
As the Blueberry Packhouse Manager at Berry North, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the company's blueberry packaging facility in Atherton, QLD. This full-time role is essential in ensuring the efficient and high-quality processing of the company's blueberry harvest. You will work closely with the farm's production and logistics teams to ensure a seamless packhouse operation.
What you'll be doing

• Manage and oversee all packhouse operations, including receiving, sorting, grading, packing, and dispatching blueberries
• Operating, maintaining and repairing the blueberry packing equipment to achieve production results.
• Conduct quality assessments on blueberries on arrival to the pack house, during grading and after packaging
• Develop and implement efficient production processes and quality control measures to meet customer and industry standards
• Supervise and train a team of packhouse staff, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge
• Liaise with the farm's production and logistics teams to coordinate the harvesting and distribution of blueberries
• Monitor and report on key performance indicators, identifying areas for improvement
• Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulation

What we're looking for

• Strong understanding of post-harvest handling processes, mechanical equipment and fruit sorting
• 1-2 years of packhouse operations experience
• Excellent mechanical aptitude and problem solving ability
• Excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and train a team
• Proficient in data analysis and process improvement methodologies
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with various stakeholders
• Commitment to maintaining high standards of food safety and quality
• Relevant tertiary qualification in horticulture, agricultural management, or a similar field
