Detailed Job Description:

We are seeking a PostgreSQL/EDB Database Engineer with 4 6 years of experience in designing, maintaining, and automating highly available EDB Postgres and AWS RDS environments. This role is critical for supporting large-scale platforms and collaborating across global teams to ensure scalability, performance, and resilience in data infrastructure.

The ideal candidate is a self-driven database expert with strong scripting skills, deep knowledge of PostgreSQL internals, and experience with Postgres Distributed (PGD), replication technologies, and cloud-native automation practices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, deploy, and maintain EDB Postgres, Postgres Distributed (PGD), and AWS RDS clusters.
• Manage fully functional database environments (Dev, QA, UAT, Prod) with performance tuning and automation.
• Plan and execute Postgres upgrades, migrations, and patching activities.
• Implement robust backup strategies, high availability, and disaster recovery mechanisms.
• Configure and monitor binary and logical replication (e.g., Streaming Replication, BDR).
• Perform SQL tuning, diagnostics collection, and system optimization.
• Collaborate with developers and infrastructure teams to define best practices for schema design, observability, and automation.
• Contribute to strategic planning for future database solutions (including cloud-managed Postgres).

Must-Have Skills:

• Strong experience with EDB Postgres, Postgres Distributed (PGD), and AWS RDS Postgres.
• Deep understanding of Postgres internals, architecture, and performance optimization.
• Hands-on with PostgreSQL replication, including Binary Streaming and BDR.
• Strong in PL/pgSQL, and experience with PL/Tcl, PL/Perl, PL/Python.
• Skilled in Linux (Oracle Linux Enterprise preferred) and scripting using Bash, KSH, Perl.
• Familiarity with Postgres Enterprise Manager (PEM), Splunk, and Dynatrace.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for global collaboration.
