Brief Position Overview The Department of Education Theory and Practice in the College of Education at Montana State University Billings seeks a qualified candidate to teach graduate and undergraduate courses in math methods, foundations, and curriculum. Candidates should hold a doctoral level degree (ABD considered) in a field related to math education and show evidence of the ability to work successfully with teachers, children, schools, and colleagues. The ability to teach courses both on campus and online is required. Candidates will engage in student advising, scholarship, and service to the college, university and community. The typical teaching load is 21 credits/AY;summer session is available with possible credit hours and additional compensation. Salary commensurate with qualifications.

Duties and Responsibilities The Department of Education Theory and Practice in the College of Education at Montana State University Billings seeks a qualified candidate to teach graduate and undergraduate courses in math methods, foundations, and curriculum. Candidates should hold a doctoral level degree (ABD considered) in a field related to math education and show evidence of the ability to work successfully with teachers, children, schools, and colleagues. The ability to teach courses both on campus and online is required. Candidates will engage in student advising, scholarship, and service to the college, university and community. Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills - Ph.D., Ed.D., or ABD in Math Education or closely related field. ABD candidates are also eligible but must be completed with their degree within 18 months of hire.
- Evidence of successful teaching in a higher education setting
- Experience teaching in a P-12 setting for at least 3 years
- Evidence of potential for scholarly activity
- Familiarity with supporting students in using the Common Core aligned State Standards
- Evidence of commitment to diversity and inclusivity
Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills - Higher education teaching experience in both online and face-to-face courses
- Experience working with a diverse range of adult and young adult learners
The Successful Candidate Will Special Requirements Physical Demands The Program The Department The College Responding to a plea from Montana citizens for an institution of higher education in central or eastern Montana, Eastern Montana State Normal School, was established March 12, 1927. Now, Montana State University Billings’ College of Education is recognized as the regional leader in the preparation of Literacy Specialists and Special Education teachers. The Educator Preparation Program at Montana State University Billings is accredited by the Montana State Board of Public Education and the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) for the preparation of elementary and secondary teachers as well as school counselors at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The College of Education also offers degrees in Reading, Special Education, Curriculum and Instruction/Initial Licensure, and Interdisciplinary Studies at the master’s degree level.
