The Role
We are looking for a Sous Chef to join our team in a Full-time position, we would be willing to offer a casual position to the right candidate.
Location based in our Cairns Hotel. We are seeking a dedicated knowledgeable staff member to work as part of a team to help push the business forward, must be available for split shifts.
The Sous Chef will work closely with our Head Chef to oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring that our dining and Function services are executed to the highest standards. This is a hands-on role that will involve cooking, menu planning, and maintaining a safe, efficient kitchen environment.

Responsibilities
Assist in the overseeing of staff & preparation of food:
- Stepping in for the Head Chef when required
- Training kitchen staff, ensuring smooth and efficient food production
- Assist with ordering, invoicing and pricing
- Functions and events
- Assist in the preparation of menus for all meals
- Ensure food is prepared and presented according to company standards
- Oversee kitchen hygiene, cleanliness, and compliance with Queensland and Cairns Reginal Council guidelines.
- Monitor and maintain kitchen equipment, inventory, and stock level
Skills & Experience
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Relevant hospitality/culinary qualification
- Positive can-do attitude
- ability to multi-task in a fast pasted kitchen
- Passion for producing high quality, well-presented food
- Strong knowledge of day-to-day kitchen operations
- Strong work ethic and an ability to remain calm under pressure
- Excellent teamwork skills
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Experience in the following areas; Grill, Pans, Plating & pass, Bulk food prep and Fryer
