EXPERIENCED DATA CABLERS About Steercoms Steercoms is an Australian company providing high-quality telecommunications products and services to its valued customers within the telecommunications industry. We design, install, commission and integrate as well as maintain services to the major carriers across Australia. About the role We are currently seeking for permanent experienced cablers for data and optical fibre cables to join our expanding team in the NSW Metro and Regional areas. If you are a highly skilled fibre splicer with hunger to succeed, then Steercoms is your home. We also offer training for ideal candidates. Duties and responsibilities Your duties and responsibilities include: • Installing internal data cables and optical fibre cables in cable trays and in conduits within customer premises in business settings (in multi-storey buildings). • Installing optical fibres in external telecommunication infrastructure including underground ducts/conduits and pits. • Installing internal telecommunication devices including switches/routers, NTDs, telephone, and PCs • Rod & Roping (Pipe proofing). • Clearing Blockages in Underground Pipes. • Building joint closures such as DJL, FJL and BJLs. • Slicing and testing both copper cables and fibre cables. • Performing optical power meter, OTDR and Insertion Loss Testing of optical fibres. • Perform troubleshooting using the OTDR. • Labelling cables and network devices to required standards. • Scope of works preparation, material ordering and reconciliation. • As-Built Documentation including red lines, artefacts. • Setting up worksites and traffic management, ensuring the safety of the worksites. • Sound understanding of WHS requirements including SDS, WIs/JSAs/Pre-starts, SWMS & Risk Assessments. Qualifications and accreditations To be successful, the ideal candidates must have at least 2 years working experience in Fibre splicing, OTDR troubleshooting. In addition, the candidates must have or must be prepared to acquire the following accreditations and qualifications. • Rights to Work Australia (Valid Passport and/or valid Visa is required. Visa sponsorship is also available). • Construction Industry white card. • Recent Police Clearance (Must be less than 6 months old). • Relevant NBN fibre splicing Accreditations (Including skills 9,12 and 13). • First Aid & CPR. • Full NSW Driver’s Licence. • ACMA registration. • Asbestos Awareness. • At least three years of experience of removing non-friable asbestos. • Confined Space & Gas Test. • Power Awareness. • RIIWHS302D- Implement traffic management plan. • Working at heights. • Strong understanding of data cables and optical fibre networks. • Flu and Covid-19 Vaccinations may be required in Aged Care settings. Skills The ideal candidates must demonstrate the following skills: • OTDR troubleshooting skills. • Ability to read, understand and mark-up telecommunication plans. • Competent in utilising tablet devices and/or laptops. • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment. • Excellent communication skills and strong customer focus as the roles involve interacting with our customers/clients. • Ability to operate the high-pressure flush. • Competent in using manual tools. Working Hours • 7 ½ hours a day, Monday – Friday Remunerations In return, we offer: • Annual salary between $76000-$90000 depending on experience. • Van and fuel card. • Tools, equipment, and consumables. • Excellent Team Environment. • Training and career progression opportunities.
