Lead 3D Artist – Stylized Games
We’re seeking a Lead 3D Artist to drive the visual development of stylized mobile games at a well-established, creatively driven studio based in Auckland. This is a full-time, on-site role ideal for someone who enjoys both leading and contributing hands-on to a 3D art pipeline.
In this position, you’ll work with the Art Director and the wider team to define and uphold visual quality across characters, environments, and props. You'll also guide and mentor other artists, helping them grow while managing key milestones and deliverables.
What you’ll be doing:
- Define and maintain the game's visual style in collaboration with the Art Director
- Oversee asset quality across characters, environments, and props
- Provide direct mentorship and support to a growing 3D team
- Contribute hands-on to asset creation and implementation in Unity
- Help refine pipelines and documentation for efficient asset production
- Support hiring, onboarding, and team development
What we’re looking for:
- 6+ years in game development, with 1–2 years in a senior or lead artist role
- Portfolio that showcases stylized 3D work (characters, props, environments)
- Expert-level skills in Maya, ZBrush, and Substance Painter
- Strong experience working in Unity
- Ability to give and receive feedback clearly and constructively
- Self-motivated, organized, and collaborative
