Job Description:
  • 60 hours per fortnightly
  • Monday to Friday between 8am to 4pm (additional hours may be required)
  • $23.84-$29.10 per hour depending on relevant qualifications

Are you a creative and outgoing individual with a passion for making a difference? We're on the lookout for someone just like you to take the lead in planning and delivering a variety of exciting activities for the amazing people we support at our Community Hub!

Mō te tūnga | About the role

As a Support Worker you will be supporting people with intellectual disabilities to enjoy great lives. You'll be at the heart of our Community Hub, organizing and coordinating activities and events that bring joy and engagement for the people we support. Activities may include (but are not limited to!) Art & Craft, daily exercises, singing, gardening, bowling, bingo, sports, and community outings.

You will have a big impact on the quality of life for the people we support by promoting social interaction, physical activity, and mental stimulation. You'll work closely with other teams to promote the Community Hub and inspire others to join in the fun.

You'll need great communication skills to help guide and motivate groups of people through the planned activities. You need to be comfortable taking a group of people into the community, driving a van, managing some challenging behaviour (training will be provided) and encouraging people to get involved.

  • Previous experience delivering activities for groups is desirable.
  • Be proactive and able to work autonomously, as well as collaboratively within a team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • An outgoing attitude with a creative flair.
  • Good planning and organisation skills
  • A calm nature and confidence to work with challenging behaviours.
  • Comfortable and proficient in using computers and tablets daily.
  • Physical fitness to provide necessary physical support.
  • A Full NZ driver's license
