Fixed Term: Until 1st April 2027

THE POST
– REQ000499 - Health & Safety Officer
The Health & Safety Officer will be providing specialist professional support across the University and helping to foster a positive, proactive Health and Safety culture. In this key role, you will guide Schools and Departments on best practice, develop and implement policies and procedures, and ensure robust Health and Safety management across all campuses. You’ll act as the primary point of contact for expert advice, supporting partners throughout the University and contributing directly to the delivery of our Operational Plan and wider UWS Strategy.
You will lead on developing and reviewing Health and Safety policy frameworks, ensuring legislative compliance, conducting audits, and responding to Health and Safety incidents. Using your professional expertise, you’ll research, write and implement procedures, deliver engaging training, and benchmark practices to maintain the highest standards. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated Health and Safety professional to make a meaningful impact in a dynamic university environment.
The successful candidate should have the following:

  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent level qualification.
  • Member of IOSH or equivalent professional body
  • Evidence of sustained continuous professional development
  • Significant experience in the provision of Health and Safety advice and compliance monitoring in the context of UK legislation and in policy development and implementation.
