Job Description:
RAISE THE BAR: BUILD A KITCHEN THAT PEOPLE TALK ABOUTWe're looking for driven, standards-obsessed chefs to take the reins across our venues and help shape the next chapter of a growing Melbourne hospitality group. These aren't roles for someone who wants to coast. They're for someone who has been waiting for the right kitchen to make their own.
ABOUT USNorthside Social Group operates four distinct, high-energy venues in Melbourne's inner north — Bodriggy Brewpub, Dr Morse, Plug Nickel, and The Albion Hotel. Each venue has its own identity and loyal community, and we take the quality of what we put out seriously. We're a tight, genuine team. We work hard when we're here, we look after our people, and we're committed to growing — financially, creatively, and as a business.
THE ROLESWe're hiring senior kitchen leaders across the group — currently with immediate openings at Bodriggy Brewpub and The Albion Hotel, two of our most exciting venues with strong foundations and real room to grow. We're open to the right Head Chef or Sous Chef depending on your experience. The title will reflect what you bring. The opportunity is the same regardless. What you'll own:Day-to-day kitchen operations — speed, consistency, and quality, every serviceMenu development alongside our culinary directionKitchen systems and admin — ordering, rostering, COGS, food safetyYour team — setting the standard, building confidence, and not accepting less than the best from yourself or othersA pathway into broader group involvement as you grow with usCuisine-specific experience is a bonus, not a requirement. We'll back the right person with training. What we can't teach is standards, drive, and the ability to lead.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOREssential:
  • Proven experience in a senior kitchen role — Head Chef, Sous, or strong Jr Sous ready to step up
  • Minimum 3-5 years of senior kitchen experience required
  • High personal standards and the confidence to hold others to them
  • Strong grasp of kitchen systems — ordering, costing, rostering, food safety
  • A genuine desire to grow, learn and improve — yourself and the people around you
  • The kind of work ethic that doesn't need managing
  • Highly regarded:
  • Experience in high-volume, casual dining or multi-concept venues
  • Menu writing and costing experience
  • Familiarity with Melbourne's inner-north hospitality scene

WHAT WE OFFER
  • $75,000 – $95,000 depending on experience, plus super

  • In-house and external training and development
  • Visa sponsorship considered for the right candidate
  • Candidates must have Australian work rights at the time of application
  • A genuine pathway to broader leadership across the group
