Investor Group Services (IGS) invites MBAs with an interest in private equity, due diligence, analyzing investment opportunities, and creating value for clients to apply for the Consultant role.
Consultant (Full-Time)
- Start Date: Current or Fall 2026 (flexible)
- Eligibility: MBA 2nd Years graduating in 2026 or recent graduates.

IGS supports clients through: M&A Due Diligence, Sell-side Industry Analysis, Growth Strategy, GTM Strategy & Pricing Strategy.
- Buy-side commercial diligence on mission critical investment issues (addressable market, growth, competition, VoC) for PE & corporate acquisitions.
- Sell-side industry reports to assist owners, management, and their advisors/investment bankers in preparing a company for sale.
- Assisting portfolio company management in realizing value through accelerated organic growth, buy and build acquisition strategies and targeted quick strike value creation.
- Advising clients on market entry, sales and marketing alignment, channel strategy, and customer segmentation to enhance market penetration and revenue growth.

Consultants quickly gain in-depth knowledge of diverse markets when evaluating a broad range of industries for private equity firms and corporate clients. In addition, consultants build and develop team and client management skills and are given a high level of responsibility for their projects and teams early in their tenure.
Key Responsibilities
Bachelor’s degree and MBA degree required.
Consultant candidates should have exceptional project management, research, and analytical experience. Candidates should be interested in:
- Assessing investment and growth opportunities for private equity firms and corporate clients
- Gaining an in-depth understanding of a wide variety of industries
- Synthesizing research and analysis to deliver answers to clients key questions
- Building business development and client management skills
- Assuming a high level of responsibility on client teams as well as within firm
- While managing projects, Consultants supervise teams of associates in addition to designing, conducting, and analyzing research on our clients’ key questions, including
- How large is the company’s market and at what rate is it growing?
- What drives growth in this market?
- How is the company positioned in the competitive landscape?
- How do customers rate the company relative to the competitors?
- How realistic are the new market opportunities?
- What factors drive the company’s ability to generate profits?
- How might the company accelerate growth and/or improve profitability?
- What opportunities exist to drive growth and profitability through pricing strategy?
- What unique value does the company have or need to build to move up market?
- How is the company perceived relative to key competitors? What opportunities exist?
- Working in a dynamic and collegial environment
- Working and living in Boston; IGS consultants rarely travel
What We Expect of You
Consultants at IGS begin their careers as project leaders and have the opportunity for rapid advancement. They are asked to:
- Validate investment theses and assess market risks across a broad range of industries.
- Work directly with middle market private equity, M&A and corporate clients.
- Lead case teams of 1-4 associates.
- Analyze, synthesize, and present complex data, such as market size and share, and competitive landscape dynamics.
- Demonstrated ability to synthesize quantitative and qualitative data into actionable insights.
- Strong project management skills and experience leading small teams.
- Comfort with ambiguity and tight timelines; ability to lead multiple workstreams in parallel.
- Client-ready communication skills, including executive presentation development and delivery
- Design and conduct company and market-specific informational interviews.

- Specific experience in consulting, private equity or market assessment is beneficial but not required

- Design and execute complex quantitative analysis, including market size and share analyses, through the interpretation of primary and secondary research
- Develop proprietary interview guides and presentations to effectively address clients’ key issues
- Analyze margin and cost information and evaluate relative profitability
- Create client presentations, from storyboard to final deliverable
