Our story still has many pages to be written and we are now seeking an Analytical Chemist in the Flavour industry to be an integral part of the R&D team driving business growth through the execution of both reactive and proactive product development. YOUR ROLE • Conduct chemical analyses of raw materials used in food and flavour development, using advanced instrumentation to identify molecular structures, properties, and reactive behaviours. • Apply proven research methodologies and instrumental techniques to test the reliability of analytical results under different conditions and timeframes, quantifying chemical components in raw materials to achieve the client’s desired flavour profile. • Utilise a range of scientific equipment and appropriate extraction methods to generate extended flavour profiles that closely match the target flavour outcome. • Utilise knowledge of flavour raw materials and essential oils to produce flavour formulations. • Strong ability to test food products for flavour, olfactory (sensory) assessments, texture and taste. • Application of advanced sample preparation techniques to a wide range of flavoured consumer products. Test and advise on preserving, processing, packaging, storage and storage delivery of foods. • Routine maintenance and record keeping of our sophisticated scientific and analytical instruments. Maintain the library of codes, data and information within the above devices. • Preparation, analysis, and interpretation of samples of the GCMS, GC, LCMS and headspace systems • Working closely with our R&D department to develop and advanced GCMS proprietary technologies • Solid understanding of quality control procedures, safety standards in food manufacturing YOUR SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS To be a complimentary fit for this role you will have: • A passion for the world of flavour and a strong interest in analytical food science • Detailed knowledge of the compositions of flavour raw materials and essential oils • Thorough understanding and experience in using analytical/scientific lab instrumentation and software, maintenance and knowledge of GC, GC-MS headspace & SPME. • Documented testing experience in analytical laboratory with experience preparing and analysing samples and interpreting data. • Advanced GC-MS, GC, LCMS skills (minimum of 5 years relevant industry experience essential) • Familiarity with other analytical techniques such as HPLC would be an advantage • Experience of olfactory (sensory) assessments would be an advantage • Bachelor of Chemistry, Biochemistry, medicinal chemistry or similar qualification Remuneration: Minimum of $100,000K per annum plus superannuation To find out more about us, please visit our website: https://www.essentialflavours.com.au/ *This role is open to international candidates If this sounds like the job for you, apply for this job and include a CV and a cover letter.
