What if you could go back……to Facebook in 2006?…to Google in 2000?…to Microsoft in the early 90s?
Would you take the call?
Would you relocate?
Would you bet on something before the rest of the world understood it?
Now imagine being offered that kind of moment — today.
Principal Optical Engineer
Global Opportunities | US, UK or Asia | Full Relocation & Visa Support Our client is not simply building technology — they are redefining what is computationally possible. This is one of those rare inflection points where scientific breakthroughs meet real-world deployment, and where the right people, at the right time, can help shape an entire industry. They are looking for exceptional engineers across Europe who are ready to take a bold step: relocate, build, and become part of something that could genuinely change the future of technology.
This is more than a role.
It’s a chance to be early.
Why This Role is Different
You won’t be joining a finished product.
You’ll be helping define it.
You’ll work at the intersection of cutting-edge physics, precision engineering, and scalable product development — solving challenges that most companies haven’t even begun to approach.
Think less incremental improvement… and more fundamental breakthroughs.
Why This Role is Great- Own the design of advanced optical systems
- Shape and develop complex optical modules from concept through to real-world deployment, influencing how next-generation systems are built and scaled.
- Work alongside world-class scientists and engineers
- Collaborate with leading minds across physics and engineering to translate theoretical breakthroughs into tangible, working technology.
- Lead without needing the title
- Act as a senior technical authority, guiding multidisciplinary teams and driving innovation across optical, mechanical, and electronic domains.
- Take ideas from lab to product
- Be instrumental in bridging the gap between research and commercially deployable systems used by customers globally.
- Solve genuinely hard problems
- Push the boundaries of free-space optics, lasers, fibre systems, and opto-mechanics in ways that don’t yet have established answers.
- Influence the future of engineering practices
- Drive continuous improvement, introduce new methodologies, and help define how advanced systems are built at scale.
About YouYou’re someone who thrives where complexity lives. You’ve likely built your career developing deep expertise in optics or applied physics, but more importantly, you’ve taken that knowledge beyond theory — into real-world systems, products, and environments.
In this role, you’ll get to:- Work hands-on with free-space optics, lasers, fibre optics, and precision optical systems
- Apply your experience in optical design, simulation (e.g. Zemax), and system characterisation
- Build and refine systems using CAD, PDM, and PLM tools
- Contribute to full lifecycle engineering — from early R&D through to deployment and maintenance
- Engage with complex, interdisciplinary challenges that require both depth and adaptability
Whether your background is in large-scale enterprise environments, high-growth startups, or a blend of both — what matters is your ability to operate independently, think critically, and deliver at a high level.
If you’ve touched emerging technologies or advanced computational systems, even better — but curiosity and capability matter more than ticking every box.
The Opportunity Beyond the Role
This is where things get interesting.
Our client is building a global team — not tied to one geography, but united by ambition. While this role is based in the US, they are actively looking for talent across Europe and will support full relocation, including visa sponsorship.
You could be moving to the US, the UK, or Asia — wherever your impact is greatest.
Because for them, it’s simple:Find exceptional people.Give them the platform.Build something extraordinary together.
What’s in It for You? - Competitive base salary with equity participation — because impact should be shared
- Full relocation and visa support for international candidates
- The chance to work on technology that could redefine industries
- A genuinely collaborative, high-calibre environment
- Career-defining exposure to cutting-edge engineering challenges
A Final Thought Most people join companies once they’re proven.A few join when it’s still uncertain. And a very small number… join just before everything changes.
Diversity & InclusionOur client and our agency are committed to building inclusive, diverse teams where different perspectives are not only welcomed but essential. We encourage applications from individuals of all backgrounds, experiences, and identities, and we believe that innovation thrives when everyone has a seat at the table.Ready to Take the Leap?If you’re looking for more than just your next role — if you’re looking for a moment that could define your career — we’d love to hear from you.Apply now and start the conversation.
