Job Description:
Overview
We are looking for an energetic, well-rounded individual who is passionate about agriculture to join our year-round team. The ideal candidate has experience managing crews in all weather conditions and a background in mechanics. The Farm Foreman ensures day-to-day tasks are carried out in a time efficient manner while maintaining quality workmanship. This position involves equipment operation and manual work in all weather conditions. Duties
  • Implements daily and seasonal priorities as directed by the Farm Manager to maintain efficient and high-quality production.
  • Oversees and controls all farm duties and ensures adherence to best practices, including regularly working in the field
  • Trains, oversees, motivates and mentors farm labour to meet quality and efficiency targets
  • Maintains and tracks all tools and supplies as related to the field crew assigned tasks
  • Ensures farm equipment and machinery is properly maintained, diagnoses problems, and conducts repairs in consultation with the Farm Manager
  • Follows safe operating procedures, support safety programs and policies to safeguard personal safety, company property and team members safety
  • Reports any potential problems with employees, equipment, or other resources to the appropriate personnel
  • Installs, repairs, and maintains trellis systems and irrigation infrastructure to support crop growth and sustainability
  • Operates tractors, sprayers, mowers, loaders, chainsaws, hedge trimmers, and pruning tools.
  • Ensures accurate spray volume calculations, equipment calibration, and proper application rates for pest and nutrient management.
  • Hauls fruit to a central pick-up location and aids with other hauling needs as necessary
  • Spends majority of the time in the field, hands-on with the crew, and the remainder of time performing administrative office duties as necessary
  • Maintains detailed and accurate pest management and spray records in compliance with industry regulations
  • Schedules staff work plans and submits payroll information accurately and on time.
  • Monitors plant health for disease, deficiencies, stress, weed control, fertilization, irrigation, and reports potential problems to the Farm Manager
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in agriculture with experience working in a supervisory capacity leading a crew
  • Passion for agriculture and fresh produce
  • Self-motivated and punctual with strong leadership, teamwork and communication skills
  • Ability to motivate team to work to perform to their maximum level of productivity
  • Results oriented and very organized, with strong attention to detail
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License with clean abstract is required
  • Experience operating, maintaining and repairing equipment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel
  • Basic knowledge of orchard and vineyard operations and horticulture
  • Ability and willingness to:

o Perform rigorous and repetitive physical activities including bending, lifting, carrying, walking, picking and standing for long periods of timeo Lift up to 50 lbso Work outside in variable weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, and snow etc.o Work with chemicals and pesticideso Work variable hours due to weather limitations and work extended hours when necessary
