The Macmillan Brown Centre for Pacific Studies (MBC) is a world leader in interdisciplinary research on the Pacific. We invite applications for two permanent academic positions in the area of Pacific Studies, appointable between the ranks of Lecturer to Associate Professor. Āu Mahi | What You Will Do As a Lecturer-Senior Lecturer you will contribute to teaching a wide range of undergraduate courses, including but not limited to Pacific Studies, to students from diverse backgrounds. You will also undertake postgraduate supervision and involvement in leading policy and projects. You will be able to demonstrate outcomes as an emerging researcher. As an Associate Professor you will be an outstanding teacher, supervisor and research leader with wide experience and expertise in applied policy and advanced research on regional issues. You will be expected to initiate income generating projects, developing courses related to undergraduate, postgraduate and professional practice modes. You will help co-ordinate existing or new research projects, such as the Pacific Regional Security Hub and/or Pacific People and Climate Observatory, established by the Pacific Strategy 2024-2030: Reshaping our oceanic horizon and constellation, to enhance Pacific research excellence and enrich transformational impact on Pacific communities and the region. You are expected to establish an externally funded research programme, to uplift engagement with stakeholders in in Aotearoa New Zealand and the Pacific region. Preference will be given to Pacific scholars who have a good understanding of Pacific cultures, regional issues, and Indigenous knowledge in Pacific contexts. Mōu | Who You Are You will be an interdisciplinary scholar who has teaching and research interests and expertise in climate change, security, governance, geopolitics, transnational crime or sustainability within the Pacific region.
