The family medicine physician will provide comprehensive medical services for patients of all ages. The mission of the St. John’s Community Health organization is to provide medical, dental and mental health services to underserved and uninsured persons in South and East Los Angeles. Physicians may be used in a variety of locations depending upon the need of the organization. Physicians work a five day-work week with twice monthly Saturday shifts. No inpatient services, hospital calls or rounds.

Employees are responsible for maintaining individual certifications and licensures as required by job function or by law and provide verification when recertification occurs.
Responsibilities
Reviews patient file/record, including allergies, problems, medications, and immunization status.
Elicits and records information about patient’s medical history.
Perform appropriate physical exams
Orders or executes various tests, analyses and diagnostic imaging as needed given patient presentation
Analyzes results and exam findings to make appropriate diagnoses.
Administers or prescribes treatments.
If required, prescribes medication, determining dosage and schedule given the patient’s condition and allergies.
Discusses any possible side effects to medication or immunization with patient.
Prescribes vaccinations to immunize patient from communicable diseases.
Promotes health by advising patients about diet, hygiene and methods for prevention of disease.
Performs procedures commensurate with training.
Refers patients to medical specialists for consultant services when appropriate.
Documents the patient’s visit including medical history, physical exam, diagnoses and plan of action.
Follows up with patient regarding progress in high risk or emergency cases.
Is committed to the mission of St. John’s via clinical involvement.
Helps provide triage services and treatment services during disaster, per protocol.
Physician schedule: works twenty-six Saturdays per year to provide coverage and subject to clinic goals
Physicians may work one late shift weekly (11am-7:30pm) and every other Saturday
