Restaurant Chef / Cook Staff wanted

Urgent Hiring at Saigon Express Chain (Vietnamese restaurants in Hobart, Tasmania): • 4 Wok Chef / Stir-fry Cook positions: Experience in wok cooking and preparing Asian dishes (Vietnamese preferred), fast and precise work in a busy kitchen environment. • 6 Kitchen Hand / Commis / Kitchen Assistant positions: Assist with ingredient preparation, cleaning, dishwashing, and supporting chefs. Work locations: Across 8 restaurants in the Saigon Express group in the Hobart area (including North Hobart, CBD, Glebe Hill, Sandy Bay, UTAS canteen, Kingston, Howrah, and more). Salary: High pay in line with the Restaurant Industry Award 2020 (MA000119) – current minimum rates (effective from the first full pay period on or after 1 July 2025): • Kitchen Hands / Attendants (Grade 1-2, equivalent to Level 1-2): Approximately $24.95 – $25.85 per hour (adult full-time/part-time), with casual loading +25%. • Wok Chefs / Cooks (Grade 1-3 or equivalent, Level 2-4): Approximately $25.85 – $28.12 per hour or higher depending on experience and classification (e.g., qualified Cook Grade 3 at Level 4 ~$28.12/hour; higher levels up to $30.68 for advanced cooks). • Additional penalty rates apply: Saturday +25-50%, Sunday +50-75% (or higher in some cases), public holidays +125-150% (up to 225-250%), late night loadings (e.g., +$2.81/hour Mon-Fri 10pm-midnight, +$4.22/hour midnight-6am), overtime, split shift allowance ($5.34 per occasion), meal allowance ($16.73), and other applicable allowances. Actual earnings will be significantly higher based on experience, shift types (including evenings/weekends), performance, and penalties – true “high salary” as advertised.
