We design, install, commission, and integrate as well as maintain services to the major carriers across Australia. About the role We are currently seeking for permanent experienced telecommunications technical officer to join our expanding team in the NSW Metro and Regional areas. If you are a highly skilled telecommunications technical officer with hunger to succeed, then Steercoms is your home. We also offer training for ideal candidates. Duties and responsibilities Your duties and responsibilities include but not limited to: • Providing design and operational support, and liaising with NBN and Delivery Partners to ensure smooth operation and contractual requirements are met. • Liaising with our clients and developing network configuration documents • Providing technical advice and support to our customers. • Installing internal telecommunication devices including switches/routers, B-NTDs, telephone, and PCs. • Configuring and integrating NBN fibre network equipment such as switches (B-NTD), routers and computer systems. • Troubleshooting, and diagnosing network faults within the NBN fibre and copper networks. • Repairing and resolving of NBN defects and faults • Installing/hauling external telecommunication cables, both aerial/overhead and underground cables. • Maintaining NBN network infrastructure, both fixed wireless, copper, and fibre network infrastructure. • Rod & Roping (Pipe proofing). • Building joint closures such as DJL, FJL and BJLs for both aerial and underground cables. • Slicing and testing both copper cables and fibre cables. • Performing optical power meter, OTDR and Insertion Loss Testing of optical fibres. • Perform troubleshooting using the OTDR. • Setting up worksites and traffic management, ensuring the safety of the worksites. Qualifications and accreditations To be successful, the ideal candidates must have at least 3 years working experience as a telecommunications technical officer. In addition, the candidates must have or must be prepared to acquire the following accreditations and qualifications. • Rights to Work Australia (Valid Passport and/or valid Visa is required. Visa sponsorship is also available). • Construction Industry white card. • Recent Police Clearance (Must be less than 6 months old). • Relevant NBN fibre splicing Accreditations (Including skills 9,12 and 13). • First Aid & CPR. • Full NSW Driver’s Licence. • ACMA registration. • Asbestos Awareness. • Confined Space & Gas Test. • Power Awareness. • RIIWHS302D- Implement traffic management plan. • Working at heights. Skills The ideal candidates must demonstrate the following skills: • Ability to read, understand and mark-up telecommunication plans. • Competent in utilising tablet devices and/or laptops. • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment. • Excellent communication skills and strong customer focus as the roles involve interacting with our customers/clients. Working Hours • 8 hours a day, Monday – Friday Remunerations In return, we offer: • Annual salary between $76000-$90000 depending on experience. • Van and fuel card. • Tools, equipment, and consumables. • Excellent Team Environment. • Training and career progression opportunities.
