Job Description:
The post is suitable for intensivists wishing to enhance their specialist experience in all aspects of adult cardiothoracic critical care including transplantation, mechanical assist devices, ECMO, focus ultrasound examinations and TOE, who have completed or are within 2 years of completing specialist training in their parent specialty.
Specialist Registrars enrolled in a UK training programme wishing to retain their National Training Number whilst at Papworth should discuss this 'out-of-programme role' with their Programme Director. Those not in a UKTP will be appointed as Senior Clinical Fellows (Locally Employed Doctors).
N.B. Time spent in a Trust-appointed post may not count towards the award of a Certificate of Completion of Training. Prospective approval for up to 1 year may be sought from the relevant Royal College when a numbered post has been obtained following such an appointment. Overseas candidates should check the latest GMC requirements for registration.
The post is part of a dedicated team of 24 doctors working in Intensive Care including Foundation Programme Doctors, Internal Medicine Trainees, Higher Specialty Trainees in Intensive Care and Anaesthesia and Junior and Senior Clinical Fellows in Intensive Care.
The post has a 50% Medical Education component focusing on development, delivery and quality assurance of core curriculum teaching for University of Cambridge medical students and resident doctors.
