Job Description:
Job Summary: Red Hat is the world’s leading provider of enterprise open source software solutions, using a community-powered approach to deliver high-performing Linux, cloud, container, and Kubernetes technologies. The Software Engineer, OpenShift will support internal and external customers by fixing critical vulnerabilities, implementing metrics, and developing features for Red Hat OpenShift Hive and Hypershift.
Responsibilities: • Responsible for writing code to implement the features and fix the bugs and work around the mass installation of OpenShift clusters. • Communicate with end users and external stakeholders in communities asynchronously and synchronously in Jira or Slack to ensure user needs are met while keeping the software performant and maintainable. • Participate in one on one, with the team, and with stakeholders in design sessions to discuss approaches to solving technical problems and lead the design discussion, including by researching the problem and possible solutions. • Work with OpenShift Quality Engineering to ensure that features and bugs are performing as required and write documentation for the open-source community. • Implement all solutions with corresponding unit tests covering all boundaries and expected parameter conditions. • Deploy code to production for Red Hat OpenShift Dedicated and responsible for monitoring the production systems and responding to alerts and questions.
Qualifications:
Required: • Bachelor’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science or related field and two (2) years of experience in the job offered or related role. • Must have two (2) years of experience with: software development; object-oriented programming languages; troubleshooting issues in distributed systems; distributed application architectures and REST; cloud computing and Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS); and test-driven development and unit testing frameworks and methodologies. • Must have one (1) year of experience with API design.
