Job Description:

Ciao! La Bella Italia is an iconic Wellington destination of 26+ years standing, we pride ourselves on giving our customers an authentic Italian experience. Calling experienced Chefs to work in our busy restaurant / café / pizzeria / deli / shop located on Petone foreshore. A passion for, and experience cooking Mediterranean cuisine considered an advantage. As Chef de Partie you are responsible for managing your own station, this could include the pizzeria. Other key tasks involve: ● Overseeing hot and cold food prep, presentation and service. Prep for the pizzeria includes pizza dough, focaccia dough, toppings. ● Cooperating and communicating in a positive and helpful manner with all other departments of the business, and treat the staff, management, customers and suppliers in a friendly yet professional manner. ● Be available to be trained in all sections of our kitchens, which may also include deli, bakery, catering. ● Ability to delegate to and train junior chefs / cooks in our kitchens to Company standards. ● Keep kitchen and any other food handling areas and equipment clean in accordance with Company cleaning schedules, lists and in accordance with our food safety data platform, SafefoodPro. ● Daily stock and food prep rotation. Adhere to Company labelling and storage policy. Monitor supplier deliveries and report food wastage. ● Adherence to Company health and safety procedures. ● Undertake any other kitchen related duties as required by senior kitchen staff. La Mamma Ltd (trading as La Bella Italia) is an Accredited Employer. Terms & conditions in conjunction with Restaurant Association of New Zealand Employment Agreement 2024 (For those hired on an Accredited Employer Work Visa are exempt from the 90 day trail clause.) Training / uniforms / meal per shift provided. Number of positions available: 4 Permanent. From $25 per hour up to $35 per hour depending on skills, experience and other requirements. Minimum hours of work per week: 30 (part-time) up to 40 hours p/w (full-time) Weekly remuneration cycle. We are open six days, four nights per week (closed Monday’s) rotating roster, includes weekend shifts. Location: la Bella Italia, 10 Nevis Street, Petone, 5012, Wellington, NZ ● Qualifications: ○ Any NZ cooking qualification including NZ Certificate levels 3,4, and 5. ○ NZ approved Food Safety Handling Certificate ● OR, Experience: ○ Minimum 2 years equivalent experience in a restaurant, that represents sound knowledge in all areas of the kitchen. ○ If a food handling certificate has not been obtained, this can be included as a part of Company training and orientation.
