The Cedarville University Department of English, Literature, and Modern Languages seeks Assistant/Associate Professor of Spanish candidates for the upcoming academic year. Rank is commensurate with experience and credentials. he faculty member will teach undergraduate Spanish courses at elementary and intermediate levels, as well as courses in foreign language pedagogy and other Spanish topics as required. The faculty member is also responsible for leading, developing, reviewing, and assessing the Spanish teacher education program (MASPN) in collaboration with the School of Education. Additional expectations include academic advising of all MASPN majors; professional development, scholarly activity and research in the field, University service, and writing a formal paper on Biblical integration of faith, learning, and teaching. The teaching load is twenty-four semester hours per academic year of two semesters. This faculty member serves as the advisor for foreign-language club and other student organizations. Employment is subject to the University's verification of credentials along with other information required by law and Cedarville University policies, including the successful completion of a background check and verification of Spanish language fluency. Position Requirements: - Ph.D. in the discipline preferred. Minimum qualification is a Master’s degree in the discipline.
- Demonstrated fluency in Spanish, including reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
- Documented successful teaching experience in Spanish.
- Applicants for an Associate Professor rank appointment will have a record of scholarship and at least six years of full-time undergraduate teaching experience in the discipline.
- Qualified applicant will have excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work as a team member.
- Qualified applicant must be committed to biblical integration in and out of the classroom.
- Qualified applicant must be a born-again Christian with a personal commitment to Jesus Christ.
