H1B Transfer will also work Position Summary: Huntington Bancshares is seeking an experienced and innovative Senior Java Developer with strong expertise in Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform) to join our Enterprise API and Infrastructure team. This position is part of a high-impact initiative to build best-in-class enterprise APIs, supporting performance, scalability, and reliability. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams under the guidance of the development manager to build enterprise-grade API services, integrate infrastructure components, and automate system workflows using Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, and Google Cloud Platform-native services. Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain modern REST APIs using Java Spring Boot in containerized environments both on-premises and in the cloud.
• Collaborate with architects, analysts, and DevOps teams to design resilient infrastructure and scalable solutions.
• Assist with data and system architecture:
  • Schema design
  • Data storage optimization
  • Migration strategies (RDBMS to NoSQL, flat files to modern stores)
• Design and deploy API interfaces with a focus on call signature structure, business logic, schema management, logging, and monitoring.
• Participate in Agile-based development lifecycle, contributing to two-week sprint deliverables.
• Implement and support DevOps practices: CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, environment setup, and deployment.
• Work on Kafka environments with use-case definition, data transformation, and performance tuning.
• Support real-time data integrations across internal systems.

Required Qualifications: Education:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related field (or equivalent experience)

Work Experience & Skills:

• 4+ years of Java development experience with Spring Boot, Maven, Eclipse, and Gradle.
• 1+ years of DevOps experience (CI/CD, Jenkins, GitHub, etc.)
• Proven experience designing and developing enterprise APIs and microservices.
• Strong expertise with Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform) and related cloud-native services.
• Experience with both relational and non-relational databases (RDBMS, MongoDB, DynamoDB, etc.)
• Working knowledge of Kafka for real-time messaging and event-driven systems.
• Strong knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies and cross-functional collaboration.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with REST, SOAP, and JSON web interfaces.
• Familiarity with configuration management and automation tools such as Chef or Puppet.
• Hands-on experience with Git, Jenkins, Junit, and automated testing frameworks.
• Experience working with Spring WebFlux or reactive programming paradigms is a plus.
• Cloud certifications (especially Google Cloud Platform) are advantageous.
• Prior experience in the banking or financial services sector is a strong plus.

Additional Notes:

• This is a remote role, but preference will be given to candidates local to Columbus, OH for easier scheduling of the final in-person interview.
• There are no current interviews lined up; submissions are prioritized.
• Strong Java and Google Cloud Platform experience is mandatory.
