Job Description
Job Purpose
To establish the University of Glasgow Children’s Choir in partnership with the National Schools Singing Programme and provide an excellent experience for young people within the wider Glasgow City Council community. This will involve University teaching, administrative and research duties, primarily at the outreach level, engaging pupils and teachers in schools as requested by the St Andrew’s Foundation, in alignment with the University’s civic mission.

A1 SCQF Level 10 [Honours degree] in any subject.
Desirable
B1 Teaching Qualification.

C1 Specialist theoretical and practical knowledge of music.
C2 Passion for music education and an understanding of the transformative role of singing in schools.
C3 Awareness of current issues, developments, and best practices in music education.
C4 Ability to lead rehearsals from the keyboard/piano.
C5 1-2 years of relevant teaching experience.
C6 Proven excellence in choral teaching and performance with children of all ages.
C7 Excellent oral, written, and IT communication skills.
C8 Strong planning, prioritisation, and independent working abilities.
C9 Flexibility and resilience in managing competing demands.
C10 Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
C11 Knowledge of safeguarding responsibilities and best practices.
C12 Ability to perform all duties in the work locations, with reasonable adjustments if necessary (Equality Act 2010).
Terms and Conditions
Salary will be Grade 6, £33,482 - £37,174 per annum.
This post is full time (35 hours per week) and fixed term for up to 3 years in the first instance.
