Position: Educational Prog. Dir. Pharmacist for Foundation Trainee Pharmacists
Job overview Looking for a pharmacist with a passion for education to support foundation trainee pharmacists. Responsibilities include developing curriculum, supervising trainees, delivering small‑group teaching, and overseeing training programmes. No two days are the same.Key responsibilities

• Ensure an effective learning environment within OUH pharmacy department, meeting national training requirements.
• Act as a Local Learning Set Lead to support delivery of the training programme.
• Oversee quality assurance of Foundation Trainee Pharmacist Training at OUH.
• Network with Education Programme Directors for regional programme input and good practice promotion.
• Contribute to strategic planning of GPhC initial education and training for pharmacists due 2025‑26.
• Develop and oversee a training programme for undergraduate hospital‑based placements.

Qualifications and experience

• Master’s degree (4 years) or equivalent in Pharmacy.
• Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
• Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent experience.
• Experience as a designated supervisor, diploma tutor, or mentor.
• Mandatory re‑validation to maintain registration.
• Experience in small‑group or large‑group teaching.
• Experience leading and working in teams.
• Experience supervising audits or quality improvement projects.
• Experience delivering pharmaceutical care to patients.
• Basic proficiency in IT (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, virtual learning environments).
• Commitment to CPD and development of others.
• Independent, initiative‑driven and flexible under pressure.
• Postgraduate teaching qualification.
• Member of RPS and working toward portfolio.
• Hospital pharmacy experience.
• Knowledge of educational theory.

• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Ability to assess evidence of competence.
• Proficiency in providing constructive feedback and difficult conversations.

Employment details

• Band 8a, NHS Agenda for Change.
• Contract:
  
  Permanent, part time – 12.37 hours per week (weekends, late shifts and bank holidays as per rota).
• Salary: £57,528 – £64,750 pro‑rata per annum.
• Probationary period: 6 months (unless existing contract).
