We are seeking skilled, experienced Sheet Metal Workers to join our in-house fabrication team in Brisbane.At MYAC, we employ and sponsor trades directly — offering stable, long-term positions, excellent conditions, and genuine pathways to permanent residency in Australia.
The RoleAs a Sheet Metal Worker with MYAC, you will fabricate, assemble, and install sheet metal components used in commercial, industrial, and manufacturing applications.You’ll work with light to medium gauge materials to tight tolerances. The role includes both workshop and site-based tasks and requires strong technical accuracy, mechanical aptitude, and a firm commitment to safety and quality.
Key ResponsibilitiesCut, shape, bend, and form sheet metal using hand tools, power tools, and machinery such as press brakes, guillotines, rollers, punches, and folders.
Fit and assemble fabricated parts using riveting, spot welding, bolting, and soldering to create ducts, panels, housings, and other metal structures.
- Technical Reading & Planning
Read and interpret engineering/workshop drawings, ensuring components meet required dimensions and tolerances.
Perform MIG and TIG welding on stainless steel, mild steel, and aluminium (where required), followed by grinding, polishing, and deburring.
Measure and inspect work using calipers, rulers, squares, and templates to ensure precision, alignment, and fit.
Complete routine machine maintenance, follow WHS protocols, and maintain a clean, safe, and organised work area.
Work closely with other trades, supervisors, and engineers to meet project deadlines and maintain workflow efficiency.
Skills & Experience Required- 3–5 years’ experience as a Sheet Metal Worker or Fabricator
- Certificate III in Engineering – Sheet Metal/Fabrication (or international equivalent) preferred
- Proven experience with press brakes, guillotines, rollers, folders, and fabrication tools
- Competence in MIG/TIG (light–medium gauge) highly regarded
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Strong attention to detail and understanding of dimensional accuracy
- Problem-solving and fault-finding ability
- Commitment to WHS and safe workshop practices
- Reliable, punctual, able to work independently and in a team
- Basic–intermediate English communication skills
