About UsShanxi Noodle Bar is a well-established Chinese restaurant specialising in authentic China Shanxi cuisine, with a focus on traditional hand-made noodles, toppings, dumplings and regional Chinese dishes. We are committed to preserving authentic cooking techniques while providing high-quality food and excellent customer service.We are currently seeking an experienced and passionate Cook to join our team on a full-time basis. Duties and ResponsibilitiesDuties include, but are not limited to:
  • Inspect food supplies to ensure quality, freshness and suitability for use.
  • Prepare, season and cook authentic Shanxi and Northern Chinese dishes using traditional recipes and cooking techniques.
  • Prepare handmade noodles, including hand-pulled noodles (Lamian), knife-cut noodles (Dao Xiao Mian), and other traditional flour-based dishes.
  • Prepare fillings, dough and wrappers for dumplings and other traditional Chinese specialties.
  • Prepare noodle soup bases and broths for certain dishes based on our recipe
  • Monitor cooking temperatures and operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Store meat, vegetables, sauces and dry ingredients appropriately, ensuring correct stock rotation and food safety procedures.
  • Prepare meals to accommodate customers' dietary requirements where appropriate.
  • Assist with menu planning and estimate food and ingredient requirements.
  • Supervise and provide guidance to kitchen assistants where required.
  • Maintain a clean kitchen and ensure compliance with Australian food safety and hygiene regulations.

Skills and ExperienceApplicants should possess:
  • At least 1 year of relevant experience as a Cook, preferably in Chinese or Shanxi cuisine.
  • Experience preparing authentic handmade Chinese noodles and traditional regional dishes is preferred
  • Experience of making Luisi Noodle Broth is preferred
  • Knowledge of Chinese cooking methods, ingredients and seasoning techniques.
  • Sound understanding of food safety and hygiene requirements.
  • Relevant qualification (Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent) is preferred.
