Location: Homebush, NSWSalary: $78,000 per year + SuperHours: 38 hours per week, shift work, including weekends/public holidaysAbout Us:Biryani Corner is a well-established Indian restaurant in Homebush, serving authentic Indian cuisine. We are looking for a dedicated and skilled Chef to join our team and maintain our high standards.Requirements:
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a chef in Indian cuisine
- Relevant cookery qualification (completed in Australia)
- Hardworking, responsible, and honest
- Able to work under pressure and unsupervised
- Able to work as part of a team
- Available to work on weekends and public holidays
- Flexible hours
Key Duties:
- Plan, prepare, and cook authentic Indian dishes in accordance with Biryani Corner standards and recipes
- Participate in menu planning and development, including introducing new dishes and improving existing recipes
- Supervise and coordinate kitchen staff, including cooks and kitchen hands, to ensure smooth kitchen operations
- Monitor food preparation and presentation to maintain consistency, quality, and portion control
- Order ingredients and kitchen supplies, check deliveries, and manage stock levels to ensure freshness and minimise wastage
- Monitor food costs and assist management in controlling kitchen expenses
- Ensure all food preparation and kitchen operations comply with NSW Food Safety and hygiene regulations
- Manage kitchen workflow during service periods, including busy weekends and public holidays
- Maintain kitchen equipment and ensure proper use and storage of utensils and appliances
- Cater for special dietary requirements and customer requests when required
