Job Title: Graphic Designer - Project & Creative Support Company: Metalworks Wanaka Location: Wānaka, Otago Employment Type: Full-time (minimum 30 hours per week) Pay & Benefits: $31.61 per hour (in line with AEWV median wage requirements) About the Role: We're looking for a versatile creative to join our small, collaborative metalwork workshop in central Wānaka. This is a rare hybrid role combining visual design, project management, and hands-on creative support. You’ll work on everything from sculptural proposals and signage to gallery displays and architectural commissions. Key Responsibilities: * Design layouts and visual proposals for metalwork projects, signage, and marketing assets * Use Inkscape, Adobe Illustrator, and optionally Fusion 360 to produce clean, fabrication-ready artwork * Coordinate timelines, project updates, and client communication * Assist with quoting, material sourcing, and supplier coordination * Support the visual presentation of our gallery and help with general workshop organisation Skills & Experience: * 1-2+ years of graphic design or related experience (e.g. applied design, jewellery, product design) * Strong portfolio showing both digital layout and object-based design thinking * Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, Inkscape, and preferably CAD or Fusion 360 * Strong communication and time management skills * Creative, calm, and adaptable - someone who thrives in a varied role * An interest in metalwork, sculpture, or hands-on making is a bonus About Us: Metalworks Wanaka is a specialist metal workshop and gallery creating sculptural and architectural work in copper, brass, corten, and steel.
