About the role We are looking for a consultant who brings specialist clinical skills to join our multidisciplinary team to ensure we provide a patient centred approach to the Infectious Diseases service. There will be a real focus on service development on this role, with a real opportunity to make a difference in the way we offer and deliver infectious diseases services. This role could be either a fulltime Infectious Diseases role or split between Infectious Diseases and General Medicine. The general medicine component is made up of inpatient and outpatient clinical responsibilities as well as dedicated time reserved for administrative tasks. You will also take part in an acute General Medicine on-call roster with registrar support. About the service Our current team includes a dedicated IPC team, Home IV antibiotic and vascular access teams, as well as a fulltime ID Pharmacist and an onsite Microbiologist. Our ID service plays a vital role across the hospital, providing expert consultative advice for complex infections to support services in both inpatient and outpatient management. This role provides specialist ID advice to inpatient teams, including Orthopaedics, General Surgery, ENT, Urology, ICU, Oncology – medical and radiation, Haematology, General Medicine, Cardiology, Respiratory, Gastroenterology, Neurology and Renal, including a large dialysis unit. The ID team also supports the pharmacy-led Antimicrobial Stewardship programme, sits on the IPC committee and is involved in education across the organisation. We work together with a Microbiologist and the lab team and the Sexual Health service, including HIV, which is located on site. What can we offer you?
