Trinity College Dublin- an introduction Competition ID: 038081 Post Summary Trinity College Dublin seek to appoint a Professor of Surgery/Academic Consultant Surgeon in the Department of Surgery at St. James’s Hospital (SJH). This is a full-time appointment made in conjunction with SJH based at the St James’s campus. The Professor of Surgery will be responsible for the academic programme within a Department that also includes Radiology, Anaesthetics, and Critical Care. The Discipline of Surgery consists of teaching units in both major teaching hospitals [SJH and Tallaght University Hospital (TUH)]. In order to ensure effective governance, the Headship of the Discipline rotates every three years between the Heads of the respective Academic Departments. The Professor of Surgery as Head of the academic unit at SJH will sit on the Medical School executive and may from time to time undertake duties on the Executive as requested by the Head of School within TCD. Post status: Permanent Contract Hours of Post: Hours of work for academic staff are those as prescribed under Public Service Agreements.
