Job Description:
OverviewThe Moulder Operator / Technician is a core production role within Canadian Bavarian’s re-manufacturing plant. You will be responsible for the setup, operation, and maintenance of our Weinig Powermat moulder, endmatcher, sander, and profile grinding equipment — ensuring production runs to schedule, to profile, and to the high quality standard Canadian Bavarian is known for. Duties Machine Setup & Operation
  • Set up, operate, and adjust the Weinig Powermat moulder to produce profiles to specification
  • Set up and operate the endmatcher and sander in line with the production run schedule
  • Feed, tail, and grade material to meet quality and dimensional standards
  • Process orders accurately against the run schedule, meeting quality targets and deadlines

Tooling & Grinding
  • Grind, sharpen, and prepare profiled knives and tooling based on production requirements
  • Maintain tooling inventory — track knife condition, manage stock levels, and initiate orders for spare parts and supplies
  • Ensure tooling is correctly labelled, stored, and matched to profile records

Maintenance & Documentation
  • Perform preventive maintenance on moulder, profile grinder, endmatcher, and sander
  • Maintain accurate machine logbooks: production forms, downtime records, and maintenance logs
  • Identify and report mechanical issues; coordinate with the Outbound Material Lead on repairs and downtime

Safety & Compliance
  • Work in full compliance with WorkSafeBC regulations and company safety policies
  • Apply lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures during all maintenance and setup activities
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area at all times

Skills Operator Level — 3+ Years Experience
  • Operator Level — 3+ years operating Weinig Powermat or equivalent moulders in a production environment
  • Hands-on experience setting up and operating an endmatcher and/or sander
  • Ability to feed, tail, and grade material to profile and quality standards
  • Solid understanding of moulder setup procedures and running adjustments
  • Familiar with WorkSafeBC regulations and safe machine operation practices
  • Detail-oriented, reliable, and able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to work accurately under tight production timelines

Technician Level — 5+ Years Experience (in addition to above)
  • 5+ years grinding and preparing profiled knives for Weinig Powermat or equivalent moulders
  • Deep understanding of knife geometry, steel types, grind angles, and profile matching
  • Proven ability to maintain and troubleshoot moulder, grinder, endmatcher, and sander equipment
  • Experience managing tooling inventory and spare parts procurement
  • Competency applying LOTO and WorkSafeBC compliance procedures

Nice-to-Haves
  • Experience in a high-volume re-manufacturing or custom millwork environment
  • Familiarity with NLGA and R-List grading requirements
  • Exposure to lean manufacturing principles or 5S workplace organization
  • Experience mentoring or supporting junior operators
