We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Chef to join our professional kitchen team.
Position Summary: The Chef will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of food preparation and cooking, maintaining food quality and presentation, supervising kitchen staff, and ensuring compliance with food safety and hygiene standards.
Key Responsibilities: - Plan and execute daily food preparation and cooking activities in line with menu specifications
- Monitor portion sizes, food quality, and presentation standards
- Create new dishes and contribute to seasonal menu development
- Supervise and coordinate kitchen staff and food preparation activities
- Ensure kitchen operations comply with HACCP and Australian food safety regulations
- Order and manage stock levels, monitor inventory, and minimise food wastage
- Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of kitchen equipment and work areas
- Assist in training and mentoring junior staff and apprentices
Skills and Experience Required: - Minimum of 1 year of full-time experience as a qualified Chef in a commercial kitchen
- Relevant AQF Diploma or Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery (or overseas equivalent)
- Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Ability to manage kitchen operations independently and as part of a team
- Excellent time management and communication skills
- Creativity and attention to detail in food preparation and presentation
Desirable Attributes: - Experience with Italian, Thai, Asian and Fusion Food
- Prior supervisory or leadership experience
- Ability to work across breakfast, lunch, and dinner shifts including weekends and public holidays
Remuneration and Conditions: This is a full-time permanent position offering a salary between [$70,000 – $85,000] per annum plus superannuation, depending on skills and experience. The successful candidate will be employed under the terms of the [Hospitality Industry (General) Award or relevant award/enterprise agreement.
