Our client, DOWN UNDER HONEY AUSTRALIA, is currently seeking a full time Apiarist /Beekeeper to join their operation.This permanent position will involve all aspects of beekeeping.You will need to be energetic, self motivated and be able to work as part of a team.
RoleYou will work closely with the Manager to oversee the apiary operations, focusing on breeding, raising, and maintaining bees to optimize honey production and pollination outcomes. This role requires hands-on involvement in all aspects of beekeeping and crop pollination management.
Key Responsibilities- Breed and raise bees for honey production and crop pollination.
- Monitor and maintain bee health and hive conditions.
- Identify and manage pests and diseases affecting bee colonies.
- Oversee the flowering lifecycle to ensure optimal use of honey-bearing flora.
- Coordinate pollination activities for horticultural crops.
- Mitigate risks associated with pesticide use.
- Manage nutritional inputs from targeted flowering events to maximize colony populations.
- Operate and maintain honey extraction equipment and facilities.
- Transport and relocate beehives as needed.
- Perform other duties as directed.
Essential Criteria, Skills and Experience: - Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar beekeeping role.
- Proven expertise in breeding, raising, and maintaining healthy bee colonies.
- Willingness to work flexible hours and in varying conditions, including travel to remote bee sites.
