An Australian
medical device engineering company developing advanced sensing and embedded systems is expanding its team and is looking for an Electronics/Firmware Engineer to support the design and development of next generation hardware platforms.
In this role, you will work across both electronics and firmware, contributing to the full product lifecycle from early concept through to production. You will be involved in system architecture, hardware design, embedded firmware development, and integration of sensing and wireless communication technologies. The position offers a highly hands-on environment within a small, collaborative team where engineers are expected to take ownership and work close to the hardware.
This is a full-time role based in Perth. For interstate candidates, relocation is required and a relocation allowance will be provided. For the right candidate, visa sponsorship is available. Key Responsibilities - Design and develop electronic systems including both analog and digital components
- Architect embedded systems, working across hardware and firmware to define overall system behaviour
- Develop low-level firmware closely integrated with hardware, including board bring-up and debugging
- Work with sensor interfaces and signal acquisition systems, including analog to digital conversion
- Integrate short-range wireless communication technologies such as BLE or similar protocols
- Produce schematics and PCB layouts using Altium Designer
- Support the transition from prototype to production, including manufacturing and test considerations
- Contribute across the full product lifecycle, from concept and design through to validation and release
Requirements - Experience in both electronics engineering and embedded firmware development
- Strong understanding of analog and digital circuit design
- Experience with board bring-up and low-level hardware debugging
- Hands-on experience designing schematics and PCB layouts, ideally using Altium
- Experience working with sensors and data acquisition systems
- Exposure to short-range wireless communication technologies such as BLE, NFC, or similar
- Experience contributing to full product lifecycle development, not just isolated stages
- Comfortable working in a small team environment with broad responsibilities and ownership
Desirable but not essential - Experience working in regulated or high-reliability product environments
- Experience supporting manufacturing, production, or test processes
- Experience working across the full stack from hardware through to application-level firmware
