Position: Industrial Painter / Blaster Job Description SRG Global is seeking a skilled and safety-focused Industrial Painter / Blaster to join its operations team. In this hands-on role, you will prepare industrial surfaces, apply protective coatings, and maintain critical infrastructure such as bridges, tanks, pipelines, and industrial facilities. Working across maintenance, shutdown, and construction projects, you will help ensure all coating and blasting activities meet industry standards for quality, safety, and environmental compliance. Key Responsibilities Surface Preparation Prepare steel and concrete surfaces using abrasive blasting, water jetting, and power tools Remove rust, corrosion, old coatings, and contaminants Inspect and prepare surfaces to meet coating specifications Clean and mask surfaces before coating applications Protective Coatings Apply protective coatings using spray equipment, rollers, and brushes Mix and prepare paints and coatings to manufacturer specifications Ensure correct coating thickness, finish quality, and project requirements are met Assist with specialised coating systems where required Equipment & Maintenance Operate blasting, spray-painting, and surface preparation equipment Maintain tools and equipment in safe working condition Complete routine equipment inspections Assist with general maintenance activities on-site Health, Safety & Quality Follow workplace health, safety, and environmental procedures Wear appropriate PPE and maintain safe work practices Complete quality inspections and job documentation Report hazards, defects, or equipment issues promptly Skills & Qualifications Essential Experience in industrial blasting and protective painting Knowledge of abrasive blasting and industrial coating systems Ability to operate spray-painting and surface preparation equipment safely Good physical fitness and ability to work outdoors Strong commitment to workplace health and safety Good communication and teamwork skills Preferred NZQA Industrial Coatings Level 1 or equivalent qualification Experience with epoxy, concrete, and protective coating systems Forklift licence with F endorsement Working at Heights, Confined Space, or Elevated Work Platform (EWP) certifications IRATA Rope Access or Ultra High Pressure (UHP) Water Jetting qualifications Experience working on bridges, power stations, refineries, or other heavy industrial sites What You'll Bring Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship Excellent problem-solving skills and reliability Ability to work independently and within a team Flexibility to travel to project sites and work on shutdowns when required A proactive approach to safety and continuous improvement Why Join SRG Global?
