The Opportunity We’re looking for an Engineering Manager to join our Melbourne-based Engineering Services team, providing people leadership across Applications Engineering, Project Engineering, Field Engineering, and Production Engineering. Reporting to the Engineering Services Director, you will:
  • Lead and coach Engineering Supervisors and Engineers, driving performance, capability development, workforce planning, and disciplined workflow management
  • Act as the engineering authority, ensuring engineering outputs (designs, specifications, documentation and technical decisions) are accurate, controlled and aligned with Swagelok standards
  • Lead cross-functional teams to resolve complex technical and customer issues using structured root cause analysis and continuous improvement methods
  • Provide strong project governance and stakeholder communication across the lifecycle (scope, timeline, risk, escalation, reporting, deliverables)
  • Strengthen compliance and quality culture (quality systems governance, audits, documentation integrity, NCR/CAPA participation, design validation and change control)
  • Partner closely with Fabrication, Operations, Sales, Quality, Supply Chain, On-Site Services and Customer Service to ensure engineering output is manufacturable, compliant and commercially aligned
  • Drive continuous improvement and digital enablement (data-driven decision making, dashboards, workflow tools) to improve throughput and reduce rework
  • Contribute to business planning and annual business reporting to Swagelok Corporate (in partnership with Finance)

What Are We Looking For? Essential
  • Degree qualified engineer with 8+ years progressive engineering experience including people leadership
  • Demonstrated experience leading engineering teams in technical services / engineering governance / project delivery environments; related to Fluid systems Engineering.
  • Proven capability in regulated / high-compliance engineering
  • Strong stakeholder leadership, able to work across engineering, operations, quality, supply chain and commercial functions and communicate clearly to leadership groups
  • Experience driving continuous improvement, operational efficiency uplift, and disciplined process adherence
  • Strong commercial/financial acumen including planning and reporting exposure

Highly Regarded
  • Professional registration / license (e.g., PE, CPEng, RPEQ or equivalent)
  • Experience with engineered solutions, assemblies, and fluid system applications
