As one of the six schools within the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology, we are dedicated to excellence in research, education and external engagement. The UTS: Robotics Institute undertakes research and teaching within the School of Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering. The Robotics Institute has an extensive range of ongoing research projects, with a particular emphasis on large-scale industry projects. This role will contribute to the technical deliverables of one such research project, which is "$2.8M, 24-month project funded by the Australian Economic Accelerator (AEA) and Navantia Australia through the UTS Marintec Centre. The successful candidate will work with the academic Chief Investigators, other UTS research staff, and external collaborators who are working on this research project. About the role The UTS Robotics Institute is seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to develop, design and implement novel and existing robotic perception algorithms, and test software and sensors’ systems to meet the deliverables of a current externally funded, industry-linked research project. About you As a Postdoctoral Research Fellow, you will have solid understanding of robotic systems, including perception and navigation. You will be a collaborative researcher, who has a stakeholder-oriented approach. You will also have; • A PhD degree in Robotics or related disciplines that is under examination or completed • Familiarity with the scientific method and experimental validation in robotics research• Experience contributing to robotics research projects and high-quality publications• Experience using robotics development tools such as ROS/ROS2, simulation environments (e.g. Gazebo, Unity, Unreal engine), and version control (e.g. Git)• Experience in programming in Python and C++ For the full list of selection criteria and role responsibilities, please download the Position Statement Remuneration Base Salary Range: $125,240 - $148,229 pa (Level B) This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension) in addition to the base salary. This position is full-time and appointment will be made on a fixed term basis for 18 months.
