About the Role As a Fitter (General), you will be responsible for inspecting, assembling, maintaining, and repairing a broad range of equipment.You will work in both a fully equipped on-farm workshop and in the field, responding to breakdowns, preventative maintenance, and seasonal mechanical requirements. Key Duties and Responsibilities Inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing worn or defective farm machinery components such as shafts, bearings, chains, hydraulic systems, augers, and conveyors Aligning, positioning, and securing parts and subassemblies using hand tools and measuring instruments Performing maintenance and overhauls on fixed and mobile plant, including grain augers, seeders, mixers, pumps, and harvest equipment Interpreting technical drawings, manuals, and specifications to ensure correct installation and alignment Welding and fabricating structural components and supports for sheds, pens, and machinery setups Maintaining water and feed system infrastructure, including pumps, pipes, and valves Performing routine maintenance and conducting quality assurance checks to minimise breakdowns Maintaining accurate maintenance logs and equipment servicing records Complying with workplace health and safety (WHS) policies and biosecurity protocols Skills, Qualifications, and Experience To be considered for this position, applicants must meet one of the following: Hold an AQF Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade (or equivalent qualification); OR Have at least 3 years of full-time work experience in a similar mechanical fitting role, preferably in an agricultural or industrial setting Required Skills and Attributes: Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, and measuring equipment Skilled in mechanical diagnosis, fitting, and assembly Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems Competent in MIG and stick welding for repair and fabrication work Strong fault-finding and problem-solving ability under field conditions Ability to read technical manuals and interpret mechanical diagrams Valid driver's licence required (HR preferred) What's on Offer Annual salary: $80,000 - $90,000 AUD (commensurate with experience) Permanent, full-time position with long-term career potential Supportive and collaborative workplace culture Access to modern tools and machinery in a well-equipped rural workshop This position is open to Australian citizens, permanent residents, and suitably qualified international applicants with full work rights in Australia.
