Position: Pig Farmer
Our Employer client is seeking a dedicated and experienced Pig Farmer to join their team in many locations in Australia. This is a full-time, permanent position with opportunities for your career growth and development. As a Pig Farmer, you will be responsible for the day-to-day care and management of our pig herd. This includes feeding, watering, and monitoring the health and well-being of the pigs. You will also be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of the pig pens and ensuring all equipment is in good working order.
Required Qualification & Work Experience:
  • Bachelor Degree in Agriculture, Animal Science, Animal Husbandry and/or Veterinary Medicine
  • Must have at 3 years recent and relevant experience as a Swine Technician, Pig Farmer, Farm Manager, Farm Vet, Breeder, AI Technician, etc in a large commercial piggery.
  • Applicants with no relevant education must have at least 5 years experience.

Key Responsibilities: - Feed and water pigs according to their specific dietary needs - Monitor the health and behavior of pigs and provide appropriate care and treatment when necessary - Maintain clean and hygienic living conditions for the pigs, including regular cleaning of pens and equipment - Ensure all pigs have access to fresh water at all times - Keep accurate records of feed and medication usage, as well as any other necessary data - Work closely with the farm manager to develop and implement herd health and production plans - Assist with breeding and farrowing processes - Perform routine tasks such as ear tagging, castration, and vaccinations - Operate and maintain farm equipment, such as tractors and feeders - Adhere to all safety regulations and maintain a safe working environment - Keep up-to-date with industry developments and implement best practices to improve herd health and production Other Skills:
  • Ability to work with a team and/or independently with less supervision
  • Good communication skills
  • With a good English test score is an advantage
  • Experience in in Canada, Japan, Demark, USA and New Zealand is an advantage
  • Must have a valid Driver's license
  • Knowledge of pig behavior, nutrition, and health car
  • Ability to operate farm equipment and perform basic maintenance
  • Strong record-keeping and organizational skills
  • Physically fit and able to perform manual labor in all weather conditions
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
