Role Overview: As a Property Management Officer, you will play a vital role in managing a portfolio of temporary and emergency accommodation properties on behalf of local authorities. You will ensure properties are suitable, well-maintained, and compliant with all relevant housing legislation and health and safety standards. You will work closely with tenants, landlords, council teams, and service providers to deliver excellent customer service and support.
Key Responsibilities: - Manage and maintain a portfolio of temporary and emergency accommodation properties, ensuring they meet quality and safety standards.
- Coordinate repairs and maintenance promptly, with a focus on issues such as damp and mold remediation.
- Provide tenancy management services, including tenant support, tenancy compliance, and liaison with council and external partners.
- Conduct regular property inspections and inventories, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Work collaboratively with councils, landlords, and third-party contractors to facilitate smooth property management operations.
- Support the council’s homelessness prevention efforts by ensuring timely accommodation availability and assisting tenants during their stay.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of housing legislation, council policies, and best practices related to temporary accommodation.
- Prepare reports and represent the service in meetings with stakeholders, including council officials and legal proceedings when necessary.
- Contribute to service improvement initiatives and adopt a commercial approach to asset management and income maximization.
Qualifications & Experience: - Experience in property or tenancy management, preferably within temporary or emergency accommodation settings.
- Knowledge of housing legislation related to homelessness and temporary accommodation.
- Strong understanding of tenancy management, including legal processes and court procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with tenants, landlords, and council partners.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
