Job Description:
Work as a team member with a flexible approach within the Facilities Department. To provide a comprehensive service to the Hospital, undertaking scheduled and unscheduled movement of patients and materials as required for the benefits of clients, staff, relatives and visitors, complying with current legislation, and any other duties commensurate with the grading of the post.

Providing direct support to the X-ray Department at Worthing Hospital

Transferring patients between various areas of the hospital

Ensuring the safe movement of medical equipment

Transporting clinical waste and dangerous materials

Transferring the deceased to the mortuary

Collecting cylinders, moving beds.

Understanding of Health and Safety and Environmental Regulations for safe transfer of patients and in general terms relating to visitors and staff.

Maintain the confidentiality of information about patients, staff and other health service business in accordance with Trust Policy.

Communicate daily with all users regarding any variation in service that may be required. Using judgement to prioritise as necessary in consultation with the Portering and Waste Supervisor.

Assess how to safely transport hospital equipment and utilise appropriate manual handling techniques

Ability to transfer patients across site using various methods of transportation.

Ability to transfer waste from source to point of storage

Assess manual handling / risk prior to movement

Understanding of Health & Safety and Environmental Regulations
for safe transfer of patients and in general terms relating to visitors and staff.

This role is eligible for visa sponsorship under the UK Visas & Immigration (UKVI) Skilled Worker route. Sponsorship can only be provided where applicants meet the specific requirements set by UKVI, including the relevant skill and salary thresholds, and any role-specific criteria.
